ABOUT DOT REGULATION
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has released new resources to help Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) drivers, their employers, consortia/third-party administrators, medical review officers, and substance abuse professionals prepare for their roles in the forthcoming CDL Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse.
Mandated by statutory law, this online database will contain information on drug and alcohol program violations committed by drivers subject to 49 CFR Part 382. This will ensure that FMCSA enforcement staff, State Driver Licensing Agencies, and State law enforcement personnel, as well as motor carriers and other employers of CDL drivers, have real-time information about these drug and alcohol program violations.
The Clearinghouse will be operational beginning January 6, 2020, with registration opening in fall 2019. Visit https://clearinghouse.fmcsa.dot.gov to learn more and to subscribe to receive email updates about the Clearinghouse from FMCSA, including when registration opens later this year.
